The Öjendorfer park, which we visited together in April 2011, lies to the east of Hamburg’s Billstedt district, and is the third largest park in Hamburg. A central feature of the park is a large lake – the Öjendorfer See. In summer you can take a leisurely stroll around the lake, or go for a swim in one of the designated swimming areas.
At one end of the lake there is a large parking area for visitors, as well as picnic and barbecue areas, toilets, and a playground. There is even a miniature golf course. At the other end of the lake is a kiosk selling food, drinks and ice cream, as well as an open air seating area. A small hill overlooking the lake is apparently popular in winter for sledging (although we’ve never actually been there in the winter months).
